Art Exploration Camp org by Youth Inc

I'm off to an Art Exploration Camp @ NAFA!

The campus is unique, as it's situated in the middle of a busy road. There's a mosque right infront of it actually... called as Masjid Bencoolen. Interesting mosque.

So i went there. Was very pissed off early in the morning lar. My client's children decided to 'bubble' me at the very last minute. Here's the story.

I have a number of Out-of-School youth clients. Thus, i suggested that they participate in this camp as it is designed for them. Initially, they agreed. Parents signed the forms. I even went to their house the day before the 1st day of camp to ensure that they'll attend. They dun wanna go, they said. The eldest sister said she may be called up for work. The brother is kinda sick, the youngest brother is not staying with the family at the moment. Ok then.... so i went back. They smsed me saying that they might come. Ok lah... i was happy. Until the next day when i was on my way in the cab, she smsed again saying that she didnt wanna go. FICKLE!!!!!! Sooo pissed!!

In a way, i should have pre-empted that. They have not been to school for a time being, and quite incompetent in social skills. They might be scared of meeting new people. I'm determined to not give up on them. Pissed can. Give up cannot.

I was happy tho' that Hanafy was there, as well as my centre's other client. He's a volunteer also anyway.

The camp was a very good exposure for all of us. For me personally, i've made considerably good networks with the enthusiastic youths who're very zealous in volunteering. Din, for example, as weird as he might look (heh!), he is so lovable and so helpful. He volunteered in a Hospice before and be friend a cancer patient. He began volunteering since primary 2. How kewl is that. Other than Din, i met Hidayah, her cousin (gosh! i'm very bad at names!!), Ezzat and OSCAR!! yes! Oscar! How can i forget Oscar. She's the MAN behind this camp. A manager of NAFA's Student Affairs, she is the epitome of dynamic and sensitive. Her artworks are marvelous!! And she inspired me to start my very own scrapbook.

I had a number of first experiences in this camp. Excellent Exploration camp. You dont only explore Arts, you explore yourself..... by doing art. Interesting huh?

The most memorable one: The sculpturing. I didnt know what i've sculptured, dun ask me wat's that. But, before that THING was coloured, i have the official cameraman admiring my artwerk. I'm complimented! Blushy Nevermind what i think/feel after it was coloured.

I had soo much fun sculpturing that i asked more plaster powder to bring home. So i can make one at home or office! wooOOoHHoOOOooO!!

The last day of the camp, Dr Vivian came to visit us. That was a tough moment for organisers as initial news informed us that Doc was called up for an urgent meeting by the Prime Minister at 2pm. He's supposed to be with us @ that time. But then, the later news informed that he'll still want to come to see us after the urgent meeting. So sweet of him.

To welcome him, we did a mural painting. Kewl!!! The end product is excellent!!!!!!!

The 3-day non-residental camp was very tiring.

Nyte!

The Boxing Day

After a day picnic-ing, we decided to go for a canopy walk at McRitchie reservoir. The morning was really sunny... beautiful morning. Instead of performing my 'hands-up-till-the-vacant-cab-stops-infront-of-me' routine, i went for a proper exercise.

Cik Yah drove us all to the place. When i said 'us', i mean all 10 of us; Cik Yah the driver, my mader the co-pilot who can't handle the wheel, myself the camerawoman with the shining new Canon Ixus 4.0, kak Mamas the childcarer, Wajihah the sarcastic, Aishah the trekker with slippers, Shafiq the only Boy, Haslinda the quiet one, Munirah the baby and Noraini... who's supposed to be our guide for the day. She made us lost. We were trapped in the dunno wat for a good 3 hours!!!!!!! After the walk, everyone was very cranky. We bought Nasi Lemak from Adam Rd. I could see smiles in thoses faces again. Munirah the youngest 'trekker' were so cute throughout the sesat session. She kept asking in a matter-of-fact manner 'Why do we have to go for a canopy walk? Is it important in life?' and the most threatening question that i simply cant answer: "Are we There Yet?" When she asked that, her sister or i would piggyback her. And yeah! My back hurts.

After the delicious makan2 session and shower and solat, ALL of us lepak!! Until 6pm when my other aunt called to inform bout the multiple earthquakes that happened to various places. We switched to CNA and followed the news. I was scared. And still tired.

Despite the natural disaster happening outside, i had fun spending time with my family.

Celebrated Christmas Holiday picnic-ing with my family. The whole Taib clan was there.... enjoying selves. I came to West Coast a bit late. Hehe.... was collecting my spanking NEW handphone (i'm LOVING IT!). Kewwwllll!!! Well, my sister is growing up, and she decided to own a handphone. So, i bought her a new line and i take the new hp. Gave my old hp to her. My theory: new hp user must use old hp - in case it gets lost.

So... going back to the picnic story... I'm in charged of games for this gathering. It was sooo FUN playing camp-like games with your family members. Zaki, Wajihah n moi are SAFF members, so they are expected to help me when i blunder. So high hope lar!!! They dun cooperate one!! Thank goodness Abang Sabri was there. He suggested this Blanket/Wayang Kulit game. I improvised a bit... and voila!!!! Fun watching surprised faces from my aunties n uncle!! Hahahahahaha!!! Wat a day.....

Used my NEW camera (haha!! December is gadget month. Bonus lar...) to capture the wonderful memories... Lurve my family LOTS!!!

SO BUSY!! Posted by Hello

Tuesday, December 07, 2004

My morning.....

Like my most morning... i woke up a bit late. Had a rough nite yesterday... and was up clearing some SAFF stuff.

So... i started my day by practicing a simple routine exercise... i stretched my right hands out... straighten it... i'll stop doing that once there's a cab available. If there's not, high probability, i'll have to repeat the same procedure, depending the number of times occoupied taxis pass me.

This morning was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! in fact, horrible is an understatement. It was crazy.. bloody crazy... its like a taxi war... with my Bukit Batok residents. Everyone was FIGHTING to get the most STRATEGIC location to get a cab. Imagine this: on the same street, there can be at least 3 people trying to flag a cab. On the opposite of the road, there'll be another set of soldiers.. i mean... people flagging. It didnt stop there... at the corner of the junction, there'll be another 2 people waiting.... and..yadyadyadayda.....

So little taxis... so many people... i wonder why the stupid RC never bother to put a taxi stand on our street while they bother to set up a horribly looking greenish 'fountain'. YUCKKSS!!!! Embracing a true blue Singaporean spirit... i think i must COMPLAIN!

So, i stood there from 8.50am to 10.10am. i was almost crying (i lie. in fact, i cried. i squatted. i cursed... gazilion times) Grrr . I think, there's someone who witnessed my agony that he offered to 'tompang' me to the main road outside Bukit Batok bus Interchange (which i declined).

So, i decided that all taxi drivers are morons (i said this in anger, please excuse me. My father used to be a taxi driver, so, the normal me has no grudge against all... no... MOST taxi drivers) and that its better to take the good old 187 service. So i did that.. i've smsed kak raihan n brudder that i was stuck in the bloodiest taxi war, n i hope they understand. Scared 1

I reached office at 11am.

SOOOO GUILTYYY!!!!

It helps to feel guilty.

I was productive today. Managed to settle quite a few things today. Tongue Out 2
